Atlanta Technical College (ATC) was joined by Clayton County officials and passionate supporters at a recent ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the college’s newest location, ATC South.
“ATC South allows us to expand our services to better meet the needs of our Clayton County community,” said Dr. Victoria Seals, President. “We are thrilled to not only be more visible but also more accessible here. This location will allow us to meet the academic and workforce development needs of the area while continuing to provide essential community services people have grown to depend on us for. The courses and services currently offered are only the beginning of what we anticipate the impact will be in Clayton County.”
ATC South officially opened on March 6, 2019, when classes began at the new location. Course offerings include Cosmetology, Health Care, Allied Health Sciences, Logistics, Computer Sciences, and General Education classes, along with a host of online and hybrid courses.
“Georgia’s national and international reputation as a thriving hub for business continues to grow as a result of intentional planning, community investment, and strategic partnerships,” said Matt Arthur, Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner. “Each of Georgia’s 22 technical colleges plays a unique role in Georgia’s growth and recognition as a workforce development powerhouse, and the opening of ATC South is critical to the impact of Atlanta Technical College.”
This location serves as an extension of the main campus with students having access to resources such as the Campus Store, Business Office, Testing Center, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Economic Development, and a Student Lounge onsite.
“The opening of ATC South is momentous for Atlanta Technical College and for our community,” said Darris Rollins, ATC Chairman of the Local Board of Directors. “This site will allow us to provide classes and resources to Clayton County while continuing our focus on student success and workforce development. As metropolitan Atlanta grows, there is a greater need for expanded services and opportunities across the region.”
The new location in Clayton County will advance ATC’s mission of providing lifelong educational opportunities and experiences through academic and innovative career preparation. These additional resources will only enhance the college’s ability to transform lives through the power of technical education.
“I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dr. Seals and Atlanta Technical College have been truly engaged and engrained in Clayton County,” said Jeff Turner, Chairman of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners. “They’ve always been part of the community but this is about providing more options to make sure our young people have access to the training they need to obtain the careers they deserve.”
“At Atlanta Technical College, student success includes making resources available to students wherever they are, and ATC South is designed to do just that,” said Caroline Angelo, Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. “ATC South provides us the opportunity to extend our community—a place for some to begin the journey to educational and career excellence and for some to get to know the college through the services we provide.”
