ATLANTA (October 4, 2019) – Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is proud to announce that Charlotte and Steve Howard have donated $100,000 to the ATC Foundation to empower and educate deserving students. Mr. Howard is an ATC alumnus, a HVAC graduate of the class of 1973.
“We are very proud of our alumni and their willingness to give back to communities,” said Dr. Seals. “Mr. and Mrs. Howard are a shining example of how Atlanta Technical College can empower its students and help them to achieve educational success. This donation to the Atlanta Technical College Foundation will energize students and allow them to discover and pursue their passions.”
With this donation, $56,000 will be awarded to HVAC scholars while $44,000 has been identified to assist students with outstanding account balances.
The Howards started air conditioning training and consulting in 1985. Today, The ACT Group Inc., teaches home improvement contractors and their team members how to improve sales, as well as accounting, marketing, customer service, and installation skills. They own and operate the business themselves, having built it from the ground up.
Because of this experience, the Howards are aware of the difficulties of growing a business and obtaining qualified employees. Mr. Howard stated, “The HVAC scholarship program is an exciting way to say thank you to the school that made it possible and pay it forward to the next generation of HVAC technicians with unlimited possibilities.”
The Howards are thrilled to contribute to helping others develop their own skill sets through education and training. “I went from fixing residential air conditioning and commercial refrigeration to overhauling 1,000 ton centrifugal chillers,” said Mr. Howard. “I owe it all to the education I got at Atlanta Technical College.”
