After a successful career in the U.S. Army, Ms. Debra Spencer pursued a second career in Design and Media Production at Atlanta Technical College (ATC). However, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis brought her education to a screeching halt as classes switched to digital learning. Ms. Spencer was faced with the challenge of not being able to continue her classwork and stay on track for graduation.
So she could remain on top of her classwork, Ms. Spencer purchased an inexpensive laptop, but the technology was incompatible with the software needed to edit her projects and teleconference with classmates. After communicating with her professors, Ms. Spencer was able to work with the Atlanta Technical College Foundation and receive a desktop computer that can help her remain in contact with her professors. Through the Foundation and donations from the College’s supporters, Ms. Spencer has stayed strong and can work on graduating and finishing strong.
