Kristie Bolemen, current Student Government Association (SGA) President at Atlanta Technical College (ATC), was selected to lead the Georgia Student Government Association (GSGA). Ms. Bolemen will now head the organization designed to promote student involvement in technical colleges across Georgia by providing strategic assistance to member schools.
“Kristie’s election to lead our student body exemplifies the confidence her peers have in her abilities to leave a lasting impact at Atlanta Technical College,” said Dr. Victoria Seals, President, ATC. “She has distinguished herself as an effective leader who is dedicated to advancing our mission both on and off campus. We are thrilled that her commitment to excellence was recognized at the state level, and I’m confident she will do great things in this new role.”
GSGA represents local student government associations and local student leadership councils at institutions throughout the Technical College System of Georgia. Ms. Bolemen was chosen to be a part of the State Officer Team at the GSGA Winter Conference this past February. She then competed against the other state officers in an intensive interview process before being selected as the state-wide president.
“Kristie is dedicated, hardworking, and devoted to her program of study as well as the SGA at Atlanta Technical College,” said Dessie Hall, Student Life Coordinator, ATC. “Under her leadership, we have witnessed great improvements around campus, increased membership in SGA, and more efficient communication channels between student-led organizations. I’m excited for Kristie to bring this same spirit to the state level with her new team.”
As GSGA President, Ms. Bolemen will participate in extensive leadership training sessions and will have the opportunity to attend national governance, programming, and leadership conferences. Prior to her selection, she participated in team building exercises in preparation for her new role.
The purpose of GSGA is to promote student involvement in the 22 technical colleges by sharing information and providing assistance to member technical colleges. In addition, GSGA provides information to local members including but not limited to:
- How to organize student government associations
- How to increase local memberships
- How to organize effective fund raising activities
- How to effectively promote networking
Ms. Bolemen will serve in this new capacity for the duration of the 2018 – 2019 academic school year.
