For the annual legacy celebration of Mr. Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron, Atlanta Technical College announced the grand opening of their Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on February 1, 2024. The center aims to provide budding entrepreneurs with the resources and tools needed to start and grow successful businesses in the Atlanta community.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Victoria Seals, president of Atlanta Technical College, the SBDC is set to become a hub of innovation and opportunity for aspiring business owners. “Mr. Aaron was an amazing businessman and entrepreneur. Our SBDC continues his legacy and desire to help others to build sustainable careers and income,” said Dr. Seals.

To assist with the launch of the SBDC, Bank of America loaned Atlanta Technical College one of its seasoned employees to serve as director during the development of the Center. The bank’s program connects the expertise and passions of its employees with strategic community initiatives of local partners, embedding bank leaders in the organizations while remaining BofA employees. Tammy Napier, with extensive experience providing strategic guidance and supporting small businesses, will help entrepreneurs navigate the challenges of starting and sustaining a successful venture.

The SBDC will offer a wide range of services to Atlanta Technical College students and alumni entrepreneurs, including one-on-one consultations, business plan development, marketing strategies, financial guidance, and access to networking opportunities. In addition, the center will host various workshops, seminars, and training sessions on topics relevant to the small business community.

“We are thrilled to open the doors of our Small Business Development Center and provide our students and alumni with the tools and support they need to turn their dreams into reality,” said Dr. Victoria Seals. “By fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, we aim to create a vibrant small business scene that will not only benefit our students but also contribute to the overall economic growth of our city.”

The grand opening ceremony of the SBDC took place on February 1, 2024, at 10:00 am on Atlanta Technical College. The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from Dr. Victoria Seals and Tammy Napier, and an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art facilities of the SBDC.
