Why is the college charging fees for classes are primarily online?

  1. Technology Fee $105.00 (students will be continuing to rely on-campus technology)

All lectures and some labs have been moved online.  As a result, campus technology (servers, Wi-Fi, equipment) will be used extensively, and it will remain imperative that everything stays operational.  IT personnel, help desks, and student support are all also operating via technology to assist students.

  1. Campus Safety Fee $25.00 (students will be at risk if they come on campus)

The college campus safety team will continue to create and offer student forums and virtual presentations for the health, well-being, and safety of students. Additionally, campus safety personnel will continue to offer security on campus, monitor on-campus activities day and night to ensure that our College is safe, and oversee the check-in of students, faculty, and staff coming on campus for labs.

  1. Student Activity Fee $50.00 (students will be using College services)

Because of the move to online instruction, all tutoring is now conducted online for all subjects, 24 hours a day.  One hour of tutoring costs the College $23. Since the pandemic started, the use of online tutoring services after the transition to online instruction far exceeded the amount for which the College had originally contracted. Because this service is essential to student success, additional tutors and online resources have been procured to meet the increased demand. Additionally, the College is continuing to engage students and personnel to offer student forums and virtual activities.

  1. Student Accident Insurance $6.00 (students will be on campus)

The College will allow students to come on campus to pick up books and supplies if needed from the new Campus Store. In addition, many programs will be holding labs summer semester on campus.
