Atlanta Technical College Names Semi-Finalists for GOAL Program

November 11, 2021

Atlanta Technical College – Four Atlanta Technical College (ATC) students have been selected as semi-finalists for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), according to Ms. Dessie Hall, coordinator for ATC’s GOAL Program and Director of Student Life.

The chosen semi-finalists are Ms. Tatiyana Matthews, Dental Hygiene; Ms. Danii Green, Design in Media Production Technology; Ms. Angel Davis, Radiologic Technology; and Ms. Gwendolyn Campbell, Welding and Joining Technology.

GOAL, a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students. GOAL winners are selected at each of the state’s 22 technical colleges.

GOAL winners from each college will compete in regional judging in March. In April, all college winners will come to Atlanta where the nine regional finalists, three finalists from each of the three regions, will be announced and compete at the state level, and one student will be named as the statewide GOAL winner. “The GOAL award represents what we hope all of our incredible All-Star students to strive toward,” said ATC President Dr. Victoria Seals. “Our semi-finalists have overcome the many challenges that have come with living and working in a pandemic and virtual environment, and they have shown the resiliency to remain competitive in their chosen career fields.”

According to Ms. Hall, a screening committee of administrators at ATC selected the four semi-finalists from a list of students nominated by their instructors.

The State GOAL Winner, TCSG’s Student of the Year, becomes the student ambassador for Georgia’s entire technical college system and receives a grand prize of a new car provided by Kia Motors, the statewide corporate sponsor of Georgia’s GOAL program.
