International Programs and Services

International F-1 and M-1 Students Classification

Candidates for admission to Atlanta Technical College are classified as “International applicants” if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Students who are not U.S. Citizens and who are currently in the U.S. on an F-1 (student) visa.
  • Students who are currently living outside the U.S. and will require an F-1 or M-1 visa to study in the U.S.
  • Students who are in the process of applying for Permanent Residency status, but have not yet received the Permanent Residency card.
  1. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

Visit atlantatech.edu and complete an application for admission. Submit the application along with the $25 (USD application fee.  Once you have completed and downloaded the application and fee, forward a copy of your passport/VISA to internationalstudents@atlantatech.edu to receive further guidance from the International Student Office.

  1. OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL/GED TRANSCRIPT

Submit your official high school/GED transcript directly from your secondary school (if you graduated). A document evaluation is required of your secondary school transcript. We must also receive a course-by-course evaluation of ALL previously attended colleges/universities. Foreign transcripts must be translated in English, evaluated, and determined to be equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. We require applicants to use one of the following agencies for evaluation services of international transcripts/credentials:

  1. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

Students must provide proof of English proficiency by forwarding official IELTS or TOEFL results. If the student is already in the U.S., the ACCUPLACER exam will be administered on campus to determine English proficiency. Applicants located outside the US, must meet the TOEFL requirements of the following:

  • Internet-based, 61
  • Computer-based, 173
  • paper-based 500
  • IELTS score of 5.5
  1. BANK STATEMENTS

Dated within the last 6 months showing a minimum of $24,000 (USD) per academic year.

  • Foreign Sponsor Letter of Support
  • Completion of Form I-901 and SEVIS fee payment of $350(USD)
  1. ORIENTATION

All new F–1 and M-1 students are required to attend the mandatory orientation. Failure to attend will result in a hold on the student’s account. Students who desire to transfer to Atlanta Tech must receive a transfer clearance form signed by the previous school’s Designated School Official (DSO or PDSO).

Obtaining A Student Visa:

You must complete the admissions requirements to begin studies at Atlanta Technical College and obtain an acceptance letter from the college along with the I-20 form. These documents must be presented at the VISA interview.

Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee ($350), prior to the VISA appointment at the U.S. Embassy.
